Spring is winding down, and vines across the Central Coast are coming to life! As we wrapped-up our Wine Evaluation Seminars earlier this month, we shift focus to June's "Judging" events at Allan Hancock and the Santa Barbara County Fair. Additionally, we turn our focus to the upcoming harvest season. It’s never too early to start thinking about grape sourcing, equipment needs, and winemaking goals. Our club provides access to some of the best vineyards in the region—take advantage of it! If you’re new to winemaking, don’t hesitate to reach out for guidance. We’re all here to learn and support one another.
Summer means sunshine, vineyard visits, and, most excitingly, our "Tips from the Pros" series! We will announce soon the first of three exclusive events where commercial winemakers share their expertise with us. These are rare opportunities to gain professional insights, ask questions, and refine our techniques. Whether it's fermentation tips, oak-aging strategies, or bottling best practices, these sessions are invaluable for anyone looking to up their winemaking game. Don’t miss out!
Finally, the CCHVA Board Meeting was Thursday June 12th at Bobbie and Justin's house. Thanks to Bobbie and Justin for hosting! The board discussed upcoming Tips from the Pros opportunities with Sunstone Winery and Vincent Winery. Once dates are firmed-up, we will post the events and send notifications to members so you may participate in these incredible opportunities. The end-of-Summer BBQ at Los Alamos Park is Saturday August 23rd from 11am-4pm. This CCHVA event might be the most fun event this year... rumor is that there may be "backyard" games including a Pinata, Cornhole, giant Connect 4, Ladder Toss, Croquet, giant Jenga, and a "wine" dunk tank. Of course, the event will include grilled meats, a veggie option, salad, and will feature YOUR wines. Tickets and information will be available on the Events page soon!
Cheers,
Joe Clemmer
